Much Love For The Boys, No Love For Me

Me: "Who's all going to the diner for lunch?"
Boss: "Sorry...just the girls"
Me: "I went to a gay wedding this morning, does that count?"
Boss: "Nice try"

Nothing Like A Good Headline

For those of you in other parts of the Union, a hot news topic has been the Benihana case. A woman sued Benihana (a Japanese restaurant chain famous for its theatrical table-side food preparation) for the death of her husband. Apparantly, the chef tossed a shrimp towards the husband, causing him to snap his head out of the way. The restuarant alleged - and yesterday the jury apparantly agreed - that the husband was merely trying to catch the shrimp in his mouth. After undergoing neck surgery, the husband died months later from sepsis, a severe infection.

So here are some of the headlines in today's newspapers:

"Jury quickly skewers death-by-shrimp lawsuit" (Daily News)
"THE BENIHANA SHRIMP WALKS" (NY Post, of course)
"The shrimp didn't do it" (first line of article in Newsday)
"Shrimp was just a P(r)awn in the case" (Unidentified - my favorite)

You gotta love when a lawsuit is so absurd that major media outlets have a field day with it.
